In a society where people are open to one another, embrace different cultures and religions, and engage in dialogue, anti-Semitism cannot take root.

CHAI symbolizes this idea of a living relationship. Chai is the Hebrew word for "life." Throughout the exhibition, the seeds will sprout and grow, reminding us that relationships—like plants—require care, attention, and commitment.

As the plants of the social sculpture grow in the shared space of the gallery, their wellbeing depends on the participation of many. Visitors are invited to sow and water the seeds, making the work a collective act of care. If plants die, they will be replanted, reflecting the need to renew and nurture relationships over time.

Beside the planting bed are 18 containers with seeds. In Jewish tradition, the Hebrew letters of Chai—Chet (8) and Yod (10)—add up to 18, making the number a symbol of life. Each seed has a connection to Israel or Jewish tradition, explained on the accompanying cards. QR codes provide further information.

By planting and watering a seed, every visitor becomes part of the installation and its message: life, dialogue, and shared responsibility.
