EUROPE!?
United in Diversity
“United in Diversity” is the motto of the European Union (EU). Its flag features twelve stars — a number that traditionally symbolizes perfection and integrity.

In 2015, the EU appeared to be on the brink of disintegration. Sadly, the crisis that began then seems to have taken on a permanent character.
​
I experience this development as deeply painful. EUROPE?! is my attempt to translate that feeling into jewelry. With the exception of one piece, all the objects in the series cause physical discomfort when worn.
​
The materials and symbols used throughout the series — the star, the number twelve, and the EU flag — all stand for Europe itself.
